Olga Davydova, born 12/15/1981 in Moscow, Russia, is a fashion and jewelry designer, branding and marketing specialist, journalist, digital animation and visual effects expert, English, Spanish and Japanese translator, psychology researcher and philanthropist.
In early childhood (from age 4) she attended art school for a number of years. Her drawings were exhibited internationally and won prizes in competitions.
From age 9 she lived in the USA and learned English while studying among native speakers at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (the IUP) School for a few years, when her grandfather (Doctor of Sciences, Professor and Academician) was invited to the IUP as a Visiting Professor. He was also awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Indiana, PA. In Indiana Olga made the decision to pursue the career of a journalist in the future, when she was introduced by her grandfather to then Senator and currently US Vice President Joseph Biden. Olga's grandfather and Joseph Biden held joint lectures together at the IUP.
Olga started her career in journalism at the age of 15. Her first editorial assignment required her to take part in a modeling pageant for Slava Zaitsev's fashion house as an undercover reporter. She pulled out of the pageant before the second tour to write a humorous article about the experience.
Next were hundreds of articles and celebrity interviews on a variety of subjects, ranging from sports to movies, TV, music and fashion for the leading Russian mass media with circulations of millions of copies. She had her own columns on Formula One and Moto Grand Prix in a Russian TV guide newspaper, and held the position of the auto-sport writer and editor of Russia's largest news agency RIA Novosti (where she spent her University practice, and later worked there for a couple of years). She is also an expert on visual effects and special effects in Hollywood movies and on digital 3D animation.
Olga holds a Summa Cum Laude Master's Degree with Honours from the Public Relations Department of the Faculty of Translation of the Moscow State Linguistic University, which she graduated from in 2003, as a specialist in Public Relations and News Journalism, also specializing in English and Spanish Translation and Brand Building (her graduation thesis was dedicated to "the Building of Mass Media Brands").
She also graduated from the Gemological Institute of America with the Accredited Jewelry Professional Degree (grade A: 100% results on all exams).
In addition to that, Olga took Continuing Education courses in Fashion Marketing, Design and Fine Arts at the world famous Parsons School of Design.
Olga is bilingual (Russian-English). Along with English, Spanish and Japanese, she speaks, reads and understands Italian, French, Portuguese, Czech, Slovak and is able to read and comprehend 16 European languages to some extent. Her Japanese skills are completely self-taught over the period of about a year.
Right after her graduation from the University, Olga began developing the concept of her fashion, jewelry and lifestyle brand "Sweet Angel Bird: the Key to the Very Best of Luck" in September 2003. The brand is based on a cute character that brings good luck called Sweet Angel Bird that Olga has designed. It has an original storyline where the character appears as a luck bringing fairy tale creature with a flame of candle fire on her head, in which a luck amulet in form of a key is hidden securely. The concept was met with the highest approval by Olga's instructors at Parsons. After refining and testing this idea for a number of years and registering trademarks in several countries, including the UK and the USA, Olga is preparing for the launch of her first jewelry and fashion collections. This brand is protected in the USA under the tag-line: "The world's only fashion brand based on a character that brings good luck". An animated movie starring the cute bird is currently in the pre-production stages too.
Olga has been involved in philanthropic work since the year 2000. She holds the position of the Director of Public Relations in the charity foundation "Rozhdestvo-2000", which is presided by her mother, and is founded under the personal blessing of the late Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexiy II. The charity helps orphanages, sponsors publishing projects and Christmas concerts for children, and restores cultural monuments in Russia, including an ancient 14th century church "The Birth of the Holy Mother of God" in Moscow (a monumental church commemorating the heroes of the Kulikov Battle of 1380, listed by the Government as one of the most significant historical buildings in the country), where the charity has restored the church building and fully rebuilt the bell tower that had been wiped to the ground after the Soviet Revolution. Olga's mother has been awarded the Gold Medal of St.Sergiy Radonezhskiy and the highest order of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Order of St. Sergiy Radonezhsky, for her philanthropic activities, and is going to receive one more order, assigned to her by the Patriarch just before he passed away.
Olga is a member of the International Society of Sports Psychology and the Association for Applied Sports Psychology. She is currently doing scientific research in the field of positive psychology and is writing a monograph that will be defended for the academic degree equivalent to the Doctor of Philosophy degree in the English-speaking world.
